Fine V Fib Rhythm
V fib ventricular fibrillation is an emergency that requires immediate medical attention.
Fine v fib rhythm. As a result the heart cannot pump blood. This rapid and irregular electrical activity renders the ventricles unable to contract in a synchronised manner resulting in immediate loss of cardiac output. Ventricular fibrillation v fib or vf is an abnormal heart rhythm in which the ventricles of the heart quiver instead of pumping normally. The ventricles suddenly attempt to contract at rates of up to 500 bpm.
It is a frequent cause of sudden cardiac death. Ventricular fibrillation vf is the the most important shockable cardiac arrest rhythm. If it is fine v fib you may terminate the rhythm. Ventricular fibrillation with low amplitude waves less than 3 mm is called fine vf.
Fine ventricular fibrillation is even more dangerous than coarse ventricular fibrillation because there is even less contractility of the myocardium which results in a smaller amplitude. As the treatments for asystole and ventricular fibrillation are different it is important to differentiate between the two. Fine v fib is sometimes mistaken for asystole. However if the rhythm is asystole defibrillation will be ineffective and you can follow the asystole protocol with confidence.
2 ventricular fibrillation results in cardiac arrest with loss of consciousness and no pulse.
